Mi Kyung has been a practicing counsellor for over 10 years and offers counselling services in English and Korean. She works primarily with adult individuals and couples in the area of anxiety, depression, grief, stress management, personal growth and relationship issues. She takes an integrative approach tailored to the needs and preference of each client. She utilises evidence-based approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy.
Before becoming a counsellor, Mi Kyung worked as a contingency planning specialist at Cathay Pacific Airways in Hong Kong, planning and training staff worldwide to manage emergency situations. This experience instilled in her a passion for mental health issues and a desire for a deeper understanding of the strengths and resilience of human beings. After obtaining Masters’ degrees in both Psychology and Counselling, she worked as a counsellor for the employee assistance programme helping corporate clients and their families prior to joining St. John’s Cathedral Counselling Service.
