Joyce is a Counsellor and Family Mediator (in training) at St. John’s Cathedral Counselling Services. Before becoming a counsellor, Joyce worked in real estate, investment banking, and, most recently, as a lawyer. She understands first-hand what it takes to work at competitive workplaces and the challenges one may face in self-discovery.
Joyce has worked with individuals and couples on issues including trauma, depression, anxiety, stress, anger management, loss & grief, low self-esteem, and relationships. She strives to create an empathetic space where her clients can safely connect with their core needs, inner voices, and feelings at their own pace, with the goal of unlocking their resources and strengths for healing and growth. Joyce also conducts family mediation jointly with a family mediation supervisor.
Joyce adopts an integrative approach based on each client’s unique needs and goals. She draws and integrates therapeutic techniques from Emotionally Focused Therapy, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, the Satir Model, Compassion-Focused Therapy, Personal-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Attachment Theory, Narrative Exposure Therapy, Positive Psychology, and Mindfulness practices.
In addition to working with her clients at SJCCS, Joyce also provides counselling support to survivors of human trafficking at an NGO in Hong Kong.
Joyce conducts therapy in English and Cantonese. She is conversational in Mandarin.
