Jen is a qualified counselling therapist with a master’s degree in counselling from Australia. Originally from South Africa, she has been integral to Hong Kong’s expatriate community for 17 years. Her diverse background, encompassing two decades of experience in business, healthcare, and education gives her a nuanced understanding of the complex dynamics individuals face in a cross-cultural community.
Specializing in trauma therapy and couples/ relational counselling, Jen offers support for a wide range of issues. Her areas of focus include trauma recovery, marital and relational discord, parenting challenges, grief counselling and navigating life transitions.
Jen’s therapeutic approach is rooted in evidence-based practices. She employs a carefully curated blend of modalities, including EMDR for trauma, Internal Family Systems ( IFS- Ego state work ) , Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as well as the Gottman method for relationship counselling. This integrative method allows her to tailor treatment plans to each client’s specific needs and goals with cultural sensitivity.
Central to Jen’s practice is a person-centered philosophy. She cultivates a collaborative therapeutic relationship, empowering clients to gain deeper self-understanding and develop effective coping strategies. Her approach is designed to help individuals and couples build resilience, enhanced self -awareness, improve communication, and work towards a more fulfilling life trajectory.
