Catherine has been a counsellor at St John’s since 2021. She completed her Masters in Counselling from Monash University in Australia. Prior to becoming a professional counsellor Catherine worked in the corporate and NGO fields as well as the church. She is passionate about enabling and empowering people to flourish by addressing the challenges that they are facing in life.

Having lived overseas for 25 years in the UAE and Hong Kong she understands both the beauty of life, but also some of the pressures of living and working in multi-cultural communities.

Catherine believes that the therapeutic relationship is of vital importance and offers clients a safe, non-judgemental space to tell their story by listening attentively with empathy and compassion. Some of the presenting problems she works with include anxiety, trauma, grief, loss, low self-esteem, relationships difficulties, identity, depression and suicidal thoughts. Besides these issues she has a special interest in supporting clients and their families with eating disorders, body dysmorphia and obesity concerns and is currently studying with the National Centre for Eating Disorders in London.

Catherine’s approach is person centred, and applies various techniques including cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness techniques, positive psychology, EMDR to enable change to take place.
