Having grown up, studied and worked in both Hong Kong and London, Ben understands the cross cultural issues and pressures of being an adolescent and an adult living in both Eastern and Western cultures. Ben previously worked as a litigation lawyer before co-founding a design start-up. He therefore also understands the dynamics and nuances of both creative and corporate mindsets as well as the challenges of undertaking a career change.
Ben enjoys using empathy and compassion to build alliances with his clients and to provide them with a safe space to share and process their thoughts, feelings and emotions. He uses a client-centred approach and utilises a range of therapeutic approaches in his work such as Person Centered-Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Internal Family Systems and Positive Psychology. He works with adolescents and adults on a variety of issues such as anxiety, stress, depression, anger, emotional dysregulation, self-esteem, deconstruction, sexuality and gender, cultural identity, relationships and career planning.
Ben has a Master of Counselling and has a Master of Science in Psychology. He is also a certified coach from the International Coaching Academy.
Ben conducts therapy in English and is conversational in Cantonese.
