School-based Counselling Services
St John’s Cathedral Counselling Service provides counselling for students (primary and secondary grade students), as well as their parents and families, both on school campuses and at our office at Central, Hong Kong. We work closely with schools who want to integrate a school counselling culture and integrated support system. Our outreaching school counsellor program is flexible with a yearly contract that includes good support from our organisation in terms of regular clinical supervision and crisis intervention. Services include academic performance, bullying, substance abuse, co-parenting, self-harm, mood and anxiety disorders, grief, eating disorders, internet overuse and gaming disorder, sexuality, special education needs such as developmental delay, gifted, dyslexia, attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder, and autism spectrum disorder.
Our school counsellors will incorporate child-friendly integrated therapeutic models in counselling such as play therapy and art therapy. Counsellors are supported by a leadership team of psychologists in cases of crisis and emergency. We also have a pool of counsellors on call to ensure consistent coverage on school campuses as well as stand-by counsellors and psychologists who can respond to emergencies and school crisis.
