Mental Health Support Group
St John’s Cathedral Counseling Service runs two regular mental health support groups for those between the ages of 18 and 24 and those aged 14 to 17. The aim of the groups is to create a community for individuals undergoing similar struggles with mental health and to have the opportunity to meet like minded people as well as to learn strategies and develop mutual support and to have the space for open discussion around various challenges that they may face. Sessions are run weekly for 1.5 hours per session and run for 6 weeks per cycle.
The Mental Health Support Group is for those aged 18 to 24 and focuses on sharing strategies, lending mutual support, participating in emotional wellness activities and engaging in open discussions on various mental health topics.
The Teen Mental Health Support Group is for those aged 14 to 17 and has topics around Mental Health and Self Care, Academic Stress, External Expectations, Internal Expectations, Relationships and Future directions.
