Ginnevere Chan
Master of Social Sciences in Counselling (The University of Hong Kong)
Ginnevere is a Counsellor at St. John’s Cathedral Counselling Service in Hong Kong. From a multicultural background, Ginnevere has years of experience in education and counseling with a compassionate approach. She has worked with clients from diverse ethnic backgrounds and ages, treating various mental health issues such as stress and anxiety, depression, self-harm and suicidal behaviours, low self-esteem, childhood trauma and abuse, parenting, relationship trauma, grief and bereavement, eating disorders, career planning, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), phobia, and addiction.
Her approach to counselling revolves around Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Positive Psychology and Strength-Based Intervention, and Satir Model. Ginnevere believes that every individual has unique strengths and resources that can be utilized to overcome their challenges and improve their mental well-being. She always pays unconditional positive regard to her clients, creating a supportive environment where clients feel comfortable sharing their experiences and work towards leading fulfilling lives.
In addition to individual therapy, she works on couple therapy and family therapy, with the belief that involving family members and loved ones is central in the healing process of an individual.
Personally, Ginnevere is a loving person with a big heart and passion for helping others. Outside of work, she volunteers for various mental health services such as suicide prevention and addiction cessation. She also volunteers at animal shelters and is involved in animal-assisted therapy.
Ginnevere graduated with the Master of Social Science in Counselling at the University of Hong Kong.
She conducts therapy in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
